Racist Ice cream

Ice cream companies, like every other kind, have been trying to reinivent their products by trying to be "edgy" and to cash in on youth urban- that's code word for black whitey- culture. At first it was done in a cute and funny way, like Ben and Jerry's Half Baked, but now lame Ice cream companies like Dairy Queen are actually trying to outedge B&J by-get this- giving their product racial names. And no, i am not kidding. Dairy Queen has named one of its drinks, which happens to be light brown, a Moolatte. In case any of you didn't make the racial connection or know any Cape Verdian people, the name is too close to comfort to the word Mulatto, which is an old racist word that describes the children who come from biracial parents- one black and one white typically- and who pass for white but aren't. The idea behind of using that name didn't go unnoticed, and in this messed up interview with the Houston press, the DQ spokesperson displayed cluelessness when they suggested to him that maybe he should market products like "High Yellow Butterscotch Sundae" and "Sambo's Extra Dark Triple Chocolate Shake". Oy! But there is a worse player in town and it's the new GB glace Ice cream "Nogger Black", with the logo displayed in hip-hop graffiti-style. Again, i repeat, the ice cream's name is Nogger Black. Hellooooooooooooooo?? Is anybody home? That's just wrong man! What's next? Honkey vanilla sundae? or sandmonkey caramelfudge twirl? What's this world coming to?

Well...obviously their marketing department just thought it was funny to have the word "moo" (as in "cow") before the word "latte" and the head of research is probably about 23 and has no clue what a "mulatto" is since it's not in common use anymore, but you're right, it's just plain stupid for anyone not to do better research on these names.
