Sadat running for president?

A Sadat is running for President against Mubarak. Fager Talat Sadat, an Egyptian parliament member and the nephew of the slain Egyptian president, Anwar Sadat, announced that he would run for the presidency of Egypt, according to the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat. Sadat said he was waiting for the legal date to officially submit his candidacy. I swear to god this election is becoming funnier by the minute!

What's the difference between a Sadat and Gamal Mubarak? I personally like Gamal, he's smart, Western-educated, charming, and will put a good face on for Egypt. Is there something wrong with a song of a president inheriting the presidency?

As for the blog, that person is quite well-informed about Egypt. To cut off all aid to Egypt is ridiculous. No use to punish Egyptians for the actions of a few. Furthermore, you guys observe from too far a distance to realize the amount of pressure the Mubarak regime goes through because of its alleged pro-Bush stance. I will never forget when Palestinian demonstrators burned pictures of Hosni Mubarak. What a slap in the face to Egypt and the countless Egyptians who spilt their blood in an effort to regain the land of ungrateful Palestinians! Anyway, all I'm saying is Egypt is quite a supportive American ally in Middle East terms. It has certainly been much more of a force for moderation than any other Arab country. First to war, first to peace.

Rancher, while i don't personally think cutting the aid would make things worse for egyptians (most fo it is military anyway), ia gree with PE in the sense that cutting it for Nour's sake would be supid. The man is hardly worth it(read my previous posts on him to know why), not to mention, doing such a move, would deifntly make any popularity he might enjoy disprese overnight, because it will reinforce the smear campaign Mubarak's people started portraying him as an american agent. This would make things even worse.

This is a complete joke!!! democracy in Egypt???? , you must Joking, remember the pharaoh, will Mr Mubarak is Pharaoh the second. Starving he’s people while he and he’s Jewish wife (Egyptian-British) and children enjoy a life of luxury. Free trips around the world and business contracts worth billions.

Egyptian economy is slow coming to a halt, with many public sectors been privatized to French, British and even Jewish companies. The Egyptian people must wake up and realize that living for today is important but living for the future is rewarding for their children , we must stand shoulder to shoulder in eradicating corruption and evicting Mubarak and he’s corrupted family from power and installing a “TRUE LEADER “, a man with vision , honesty and fears ALLAH. Only then would Egypt enjoy its glory once more.
