Patriot Act diluted!

In an act of extreme stupidity, the senate is trying to fix parts of the Patriot Act in order not to make it permenant. You would think that with the fact that the US hasn't had a single terrorist attack since its implementation, and the recent bombing in london, they wouldn't want to mess with it, but nooooooo! If it ain't broke, they got to fix it! I guess congress is really the opposite of progress!

I can't stand so-called "libertarians" who support restrictions on civil liberties. And this "there hasn't been a terrorist attack since 9/11 on US soil" bullshit is just stupid. If you think that "proves" that the PATRIOT Act is working you must have failed introductory logic (it's called the post hoc fallacy).

There wasn't a single terrorist attack on US soil in Clinton's second term. Guess that proves how effective his policies were, doesn't it?

Uh, yes there was. The attacks on the US embassies (which are always considered US soil) happened, as did the attack on the US Cole.

There is nothing in the Patriot act that is not allowed in the US criminal pursuit of drug dealers and mafia organizations. People who are frightened of the Patriot Act just haven't bothered to read it.

Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that the anonymous commentor spent most of his post spewing insults and only actually made a point to support his argument with the very last sentence?

The idea of sane and fair discussion seems lost on some people.
