Iraqi women's constitutional fight

Iraqi women groups are fighting tooth and nail to perserve the rights that women have now from being eliminated with the implementation of the new constitution that will based upon Islamic Sharia. For a better round-up on the topic, see Kat's excellent post here and her answers to questions here. Those women need our support people.

Thank you dear. I am getting hits from your site already. I am looking to see if there are other direct ways to impact this. I will be contacting my Senators office directly Monday or Tuesday, though I am concerned that he is on vacation now since congress is on summer recess.

Any suggestion as to how we may help?

Suz...right now, we can pressure our senators and reps to make statements of support and to evaluate the amount of funds being given through the USAID program and increase those funds so that these ladies have the ability to organize and produce media attention within Iraq for their concerns (which should be our concerns as well).

Those are the two major things that we can do if we live in the US.

I am attempting to run down any women's organizations in the US or international that are supporting these ladies. I found one organization that I am attempting to verify if they are assisting or just bringing attention to their plight.
