Our national press
Seneferu notes that the egyptian press not only did not condemn the palestinian attack on egyptian soldiers, they praised the fact that the egyptian soldiers did not fire on their palestinian brothers as they attacked and killed them. Yes, that's what I want to hear from my military: that they do not fire back at armed invading foreigners. But fret not Seneferu inform us: the 2 egyptian soldiers who got killed in the attack will now be officially considerd "martyrs" amongst the martyrs of the palestinian people. Yeah, that should make up for their loss as far as their families are concerned, right? Riiighhhttttttt! If this is pan-arabism, the pan-arabists egyptians can kiss my egyptianist ass. Martyrs of the palestinian people. The nerve. Don't you mean Martyrs because of the palestinian people? Wouldn't that be a more honest portrayel? But why bother with honesty? We should just be ok with what happend. We should just bend over and take it, in the name of pan-arabist brotherly love. That's what being Egyptian is all about these days isn't it? Oh, who am I kidding. That's what Egypt has been standing for ever since the blessed 1952 revolution. I mean, we shouldn't let the deaths of 2 poor egyptian soldiers interfeer with that wildly successful plan, now should we? What's another 2 anyway, right? Egyptians are a dime a dozen, and not worth more than 150 dollars each anyway. That's our government's estimate, and they are rarely wrong about our value, right? Whatever....

"If this is pan-arabism, the pan-arabists egyptians can kiss my egyptianist ass."
And I always say: "If this is pan-arabism, the pan-arabists Lebanese can kiss my phoenicianist ass."
Pan-arabists are stupid people trying to justify any abuse as long as it's commited by Palestinians or Arabs.
The panarabist seem to have something in common with both the euorpean and American leftists. The only lives they value are their own. Everyone else is expendable.
These people have elevated the Palestinians above all others, including their own. I think they all ought to be gathered up and transported to the Palestinian border. Life in Gaza for a few years might just change their minds.
There ARE good Palestinians, they just never get heard from.
Yasmina, just because they were Palestinians.
I'm just wondering Mr. Egypto-nationalist: Where were you and your patriotic feelings when the israelis killed 3 egyptian soldiers across the borders?
Do you even understand that it was -guess what- the fucking US and israel that pressured egypt to take over that part of the borders, coz the zionists couldn't afford anymore resistance attacks?
By the way, don't mix pan-arabists with nasserites, baa'thists, kaazafists (or whatever they're called). For the majority of people, al-aksa is not a palestanian issue.
Amen SM!
Its amayzing how we are all willing to ignore the obvious facts for our psychological needs.
For example, the Palestinian people are the under-dog, and therefore innocent. So when a father straps bombs on his own boy and tells him to blow up infidel civilians, it is considered "resistance".
I cannot remember any other time in history where specifically targeting innocent women and children was ever called "resistance".
I call it religious evil.
Hi Jordan-
"I cannot remember any other time in history where specifically targeting innocent women and children was ever called "resistance""
Well, that's to be expected when college professors are teaching young people, even in a country like the US, that suicide bombing innocent bystanders is the same as the US bombing insurgents in Falluja, Jordan.
I think Iraqis now "get it" when it comes to terrorism, but there are a large percentage of europeans who do not, and I don't even want to think about the poll results in the ME.
hey Ali...that incident you refer to was a mistake caused AGAIN by Palestinians. They were about to scale the wall & the Israelis fired unot the egyptians soldiers by mistake when they were after the palestinians...oh do you think the israelis said oh what the hell, lets kill a few egyptian soldiers this time & let them palestinians who most probably are carrying weapons or smuggling goods get away this time? people like you ali dont use their brains to assess a situation properly, they just want to attack out of hatred.
Yasmina, i was about to say it but you beat me to it...what would the papers have said if it was an israeli soldier who shot the 2 poor egyptians border guards?? But then, israeli citizens dont really barge into borders in a blazy of glory like our arab neighbours.
something is definitely wrong with the editors & people, something bad will happen again at the border soon if they dont get really tough with the palestinian anarchists...the thing is sandmonkey, maybe the papers werent accurate when they said egyptian forces didnt fire back, maybe they did...remember recently an egyptian guard shot a palestinian who jumped over & didnt heed the caution warnings?? but again 2 shot to death is alot...why can they shoot egyptians & not egyptians shoot back?? If Hamas of thge PA decide to invade sinai for some space for them in gaza, will we allow them in? will we say we have rented the area to them as they are our brethren & they are suffering? what about the egyptians who are suffering from poverty & ill health, why dont we give them half the aloowances we give to the palestinians???
yestarday armed palestinians from a refugy camp in lebanon shot and injured 2 palestinian policemans.. a month or so ago they killed a lebanese man who worked for the government and was measuring some distances near a palestinian refugy camp..
the palestinians fucked up lebanon, tried to fuck up jordan, tried to fuck up israel, and may be the next turn is on egypt. i am sure the palestinian-huggers in egypt will be happy when palestinians do in egypt the same things they did in lebanon in the 80s.. it's ok right.. but if the israelies do 1/10 of what the palestinians are doing then it is a bad crime.. how pathitec double standards
wakeup
sorry yestarday they shot 2 lebanese policemans
Sam,
Posting in your blog is like surfing a big wave...this last post of yours was an especially big boost to the readership in my blog:-) Thanks.
I wonder what the readership of your blog would be compared to an online publication like Al Ahram Weekly? Is there a way to find this out?...What I am getting at is: since they are the whores that they are, I wonder if your blog can beat their own readership, or whether it has already.
Great job, keep up the good work.
Jokerman,
"something is definitely wrong with the editors & people, something bad will happen again at the border soon if they dont get really tough with the palestinian anarchists...the thing is sandmonkey, maybe the papers werent accurate when they said egyptian forces didnt fire back, maybe they did...remember recently an egyptian guard shot a palestinian who jumped over & didnt heed the caution warnings??"
I think something is seriously wrong with the editors and politicians. The people are sufficiently pissed. The politicians of the opposition are in even more of a position to up the pressure than the government...but unfortunately, they are whores.
As for whether the policemen shot back, the past one was a separate incident, the papers were particularly clear this time that the soldiers were under orders not to shoot back at "the Palestinian brothers".
That's funny, over here it's almost like texas with all the right wing bullshit going around, now let's put a few things straight:
1) Israel happens to have been the result of the raping of palestine and palestanian people, if you want to talk about religous fanatics just remember that israel and the chosen people and all that crap comes from the fucking towarah.
2)Killing civilians is definitely a crime, but killing settlers is by all means not. What palestenians do to get back their homes is completely different that BIn laden and the such. How about you show the same sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of iraqi civilians killed in an illegal war?
3) Most egyptians -at least the ones I talk with- don't share your perspective of israel and palestine as just neighbours, most believe israel is our biggest enemy and that palestenians are brothers. If you don't like, move to canada.
4) If you actually think israel withdrawed from ghaza because of the EU or the UN, then i seriously doubt that y6ou even know where the middle east is.
5) Smuggling weapons my ass, there isn't a pint of patriotism in our government that would make them do that. They only listen to the white house.
So seriously guys, what's the deal with all the "egypt comes first" and " what about caring for our impoverished citizens" and all that crap? Is this the new right wing propaganda? You should prolly join the NDP.
So ali...u r saying that (and execuse my french) the fuckers who killed the 2 egyptian soldiers (or more) should be redeemed because as you say palestinians are our brothers, and israel is our enemy????
What does this has to do with anything? If you as a brother, killed anybody it is only fair (and religiously right I might add) that you should be brought to justice, and killed. What about a foreign aggressor who kills your fellow Egyptian?
Ali, you're sick. You're saying that everybody who thinks similar to me a)doesn't know where the middle east is, and b)should move to canada. Let me break this news to you kiddo: you're the one who is not from around here. Most Egyptians, who are so poor, so busy, or so smart not to read El-Ahram or believe the Egyptian TV all the time don't really think that the palestinians r our own brothers. Most don't give a damn. Most think, i'll give you that, Israelis are SOB's, but at the some time, most have no problem to work for companies participating in the QIZ, or American companies.
If you don't think that "egypt comes first" and that we should "care for our impoverished citizens" then I'd be glad to kick ur sorry ass all the way to Canada myself.
Try reading this (yemken!)
What's with the assumptions?
I actually never mentioned giving the palestenians who killed egyptian soldiers a (i love your french, are they still called freedom fries) fucking medals, I think they have the right to a fair trial and justice should take its course, which by the way is the official and unofficial palestenian stance. What i'm against is the fact that some people try and take this incident out of context to push their agenda (like blaming pan-arabism, wtf?) trying to villinize (it's a word) palestenians and pumping national pride and you know the rest.
As for me, I definitely care for our impoverished people and I do believe egypt comes first, but I can spot demagogues who only say that when it suits their goals, yet when its the israelis killing us or americans killing iraqis they're all hush hush.
Most egyptians think Israel is our biggest enemy, so supporting palestenaisn would be like our first line of defense, try and put that through your skull.
You know, canada isn't really that bad, think about it..
Ali,
'villainize' is a word, 'villinize' is a wrongly spelled word.
as for that matter is 'palestenian'.
perhaps you should use the spellcheck function before you next attempt to sound clever?
Perhaps you should enlighten us with your views on the actual discussion instead of being a pedantic wanker.
