State department report findings

This AP piece talks about the report that the US state department compiled on America's image in the world and it made me laugh my ass off. Let me show you why: Bad Bad America: For what can be heard around the world, in the wake of the invasion of Iraq, the prisoner abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib, and the controversy over the handling of detainees at Bagram and Guantanamo Bay, is that America is less a beacon of hope than a dangerous force to be countered," the report said. The committee and other academic and official travelers found a "sense of crisis" abroad, the report said. "Put simply, we have lost the goodwill of the world." Not so Bad America: While U.S. policies in the Middle East were condemned, the American system of higher education, science and technology were praised, as were the values of freedom, democracy and individual dignity, the report said. "America is still seen as a place where things can happen, where change is not feared; a land of diversity, openness, candor and generosity," the report said. And the perfect ending: It also urged the streamlining of visa procedures for international students. LOL It's official, The world opinion on the US is schizophrenic.

Isn't it amazing, we Americans are just so awful that "they" are just lining up to get into Europe....errr maybe not? I hear that most Europeans under 35yo are killing themselves to come here and stay. My hubby works with 2 young French guys who are trying very hard to become citizens. We are in the middle of nowhere here! LOL

What, even the cheese eating surrender monkeys are coming to America!? I don't believe it, not for a second. They must be imposters. Probably, Belgians! Or, maybe, those Canadian people who think tey are French? The Quebecois?

Personally, I don't see any contradiction when people who don't like America still want to come to America, for economic reasons. And I don't mind it. It gives us an opportunity to convert them and change their evil ways.

Well, I don't know about other states but Texas doesn't want or need anybody else coming in.

We are thinking about putting up "No Vacancys" signs at all the border crossings and hiring Egyptians (joking) to guard the borders.

We are still covered up with people from MS and LA.

I overheard this morning at the coffee shop a man ask (unmistakenly from one of those two states) just how many mexicans lived in texas?

Way too many..
