Biden wants to cut and run
If Biden thinks this is the way to be presidential, ehh, he is wrong: Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record) of Delaware, who is aiming for the 2008 presidential race, said the Iraqis must have a constitution that unites fighting factions of the society or "it's game over." "We can't want peace in Iraq more than the Iraqis want it," Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "We can't want it more than they want it. And if they don't step up to the ball, we're going to be gone." Ok, this is one of the dumbest statement ever said about this war, because, well, the supreme majority of iraqis want peace. It's just their leaders are too busy playing politics, setting up alliances, and setteling old scores to get that ball rolling properly. Not to mention, this statement is ignoring the effect of Syria and Iran in financing and supplying the warring factions, not to mention the agents of random chaos called Al Qaeda's foreign fighters. But sure, blame the Iraqis and claim that you will get the hell out if they "don't want peace!". And please ignore the mayhem that will ensue the moment the american troops aren't there to stabalize the situation, and encouraging effect and moral boost such a statement must give the Al Qaeda fighters, who must now believe that their campaign to defeat America is succeeding. People, have some persepctive: There are 150,000 troops in Iraq, and only 2,200 deaths after 3 years of occupation with a bloody insurgency going on and an invasion of an entire country. Your casuality rate after 3 years and fighting a major war is not even 2% and you want to just give up and run away? Are you kidding me? Ahh aggrevation in the morning. Try to ignore Biden. Must relax. Think Happy thoughts. Eva Langoria and Jessica Alba mudwrestling...naked. Yes. Much better!

On a more serious note, I am hoping that the American decision-makers are smarter than Biden who is playing on feelings of discontent towards the war at home.

Biden is an Old Looney politician from a 2 bit State. When I was 16, I used to sell ice cream from a truck and his development was on my route. He had just lost his wife to an auto accident. In Delaware- hick town USA -that type of tragedy gets you the sympathy vote - after all they have a governor who is a high school drop out going on her second term. This person still reminds me of a child who hates school. Every time you say the word snow she closes all of the public schools. Anyway, Biden has always been a light weight and only has a seniority status because Delaware has so little to offer. Some people need to be ignored.
Also, and I fear saying this will bring on some slings and arrows, I also see the casuality rate as low. I am impressed that the US army can move those huge numbers of people a third of the way around the world so safely. If those same 150,000 people had never left our borders I wonder how many of them would be dead from the everyday stuff that goes on here like auto accidents, city violence, drug deaths?
You guys are missing the point. The pretense for going to war w/ Iraq was faulty in the first place. The American public was given 30 million different reasons why this war was waged, and all of them smacked of retardedness. Therefore it seems a bit of waste that 2,200 US troops and innumerable Iraqis have died. Having said that, I don't nessecarily agree w/ Biden. I think the US Gov. instigated this mess and now it is there's to clean up. No matter what, everyone's screwed.
150,000 is only the troop level at 1 given time. The troops are regularly rotated, so the actual total number of troops who have been to Iraq is more like 400,000. which would make the death rate somthing like around 0.5% even less if you only include those killed in action. This is perhaps the lowest combat death rate for a major military operation in history
Our American Left are such a bunch of traitorous pussies. We sacrifice 20,000 lives a year for the cause of driving. Changing the geopolitical face of central Asia is not worth 2200 lives a year however as far as these scum are concerned. If ignored, the Sadams, and the Iranian Mullahs ... along with the Saudi Whahabists can throw the entire world into the dark ages. All they have to do is cut the oil flow in half. They don't even have to stop it. The world cannot afford ... mankind can not afford to NOT interfere in central Asia. Biden knows this and so does most of the Left's politicians. But they are willing to screw with the safety and security of the entire world to regain their power in America's government. Now THAT's sick. Truly sick and evil.

This is either misleading or inaccurate. Biden lost his wife and young daughter and his two sons were severely injured in a tragic accident (Dec. '73)over a month AFTER he was elected to the US Senate. Maybe you mean the people of Delaware re-elected Biden 6 years later and 5 more times out of sympathy? I really doubt it.
If the best you can come up with is to falsely slam someone by using the most horrible of tragedies against him, I really feel sorry for you.
