Muqtada El Sadr...Mainstream?

This is the title of an Ap piece on Muqtada El Sadr : Radical Iraqi Cleric Moves Into Mainstream What? Excuse me, i meant WHHHHATTTTTTTTT THHEEEEEEEE F*********KKKKKKK? This guy, whose men assualted and killed students out on a picnic for "improper unislamic behaviour" and who is charged with murder, is now mainstream and a respected political force in Iraq? Oh God!

It's the AP, what else would you expect from the same organization whose photographers just happened to be on the scene when the Iraqi elections commissioners were pulled from their cars and murdered casually and at point blank range?

*sigh*

I don't understand why this Sadr guy is still alive and free. He must be part of somebodies plan for the future... somebody with a lot of clout in Iraq. That's probably the same reason he gets to redefine himself on a daily basis, with nobody ever pointing out his past acts.

Sometimes, well, maybe most the time, politics really pisses me off. I'll never forgive Bush the Father for not finishing Saddam when he had the chance after Desert Storm. And politics be damned - it was obviously the right thing to do. Who ever heard of WINNING a war and then leaving your enemy in power?

*sigh*

I'm still waiting for some independant verification on the veracity of something I've recently read. If it's true, then Sadr's way is DEFINATELY mainstream Islam, and always has been.
