It is 100% true. The RGB value is (120, 120, 120) for both squares, which means they have the same color.
"Believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see."
That quote is pretty well known, and often followed, in the US (in various forms), though the original authorship is uncertain.
I might suggest that many in other countries would do well to make that same idea a part of their world-view.
And that IS a great illustration of the concept. The first time I saw it, I did the same thing as 'Anonymous'... sure enough, they are the same value - which means the same color.
But my eyes still say they are different... (only half of what you see).
