IT IS ON!
We have the Approval of the Security Authorities. Our Candle Light Vigil for the Sharm El Sheikh victims is on. Again for the new comers: It is from 6 to 9 in Al Azhar Park. We will provide the candles. Please come wearing white and try to arrive between 5 and 6 so we can start early. You can bring your own signs condemning the act and the terrorists (Nothing political please) and feel free to bring candles as well. Please come and tell everyone you know to come as well! Hope to see you there! PS: Go to Big Pharaoh to see pictures of the place we chose, and to Karim's for further details if any arise.

Why not ask everyone to light a candle during you vigil. There are bloggers who wish they could join you I will check the time difference and light mine at the same time.

I left a comment at ITM -- talk to as many of the local authorities as you can in advance. Ask the people who plan to attend to talk to any friend of the family in advance. Do not scare the cops!
Valerie
Sounds of trains in the surf
in subways of the sea
And an even greater undersound
of a vast confusion in the universe
a rumbling and a roaring
as of some enormous creature turning
under sea and earth
a billion sotto voices murmuring
a vast muttering
a swelling stuttering
in ocean's speakers
world's voice-box heard with ear to sand
a shocked echoing
a shocking shouting
of all life's voices lost in night
And the tape of it
someow running backwards now
through the Moog Synthesizer of time
Chaos unscrambled
back to the first
harmonies
And the first light
From Lawrence Ferlinghetti's "A Vast Confustion."
Good luck tomorrow.

I can only be with you in spirit Sam, but I guarantee you that there will be a candle lit at my house tomorrow night.
Phoenix is a long way from Cairo, but my thoughts and prayers for your safety will be with you.
I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of what you are doing.
Certain that I am but one of many supporters from afar...from candles that light the dark, to our voices, words and intentions of support for you actions, we applaud you.

Sam, aljazeera here has this article about the opposition heavily criticizing Mubarak
http://www.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/6B28802F-DCD1-48A9-B563-39DD8FE584AB.htm
and other major arabic papers too are not very optimistic

It may get ugly tomorrow or the local homeland security may still revoke your licence thinking it is an opposition protest...you know how any gathering is forbidden right ? So for everybody's sake if you think it may be unsafe call it off ... you can always do it another time .
1. How about a candle vigil for the victims of the terrorist...ooops (the practitioners of Islam) attacks, for London victims?
2. Read this article - insightful. A MUST READ

Good luck, Sandmonkey, and all the best.
A discouraging article puts a negative spin on Arab terrorism protests:
Muslim 'Moderates' And Terrorism
..."Down with terrorism," "We are against terrorism"...
But then, if it's so, why can the great moderate Muslim world not really fight their own enemy? They themselves give me the answers: "Bin Laden? The Muslim Brotherhood? Certainly the terrorist attacks are not their work, no! This is a lie. A Muslim could never do this..."
...Islam is out of the question, And then, we ask again, who is behind the attacks? Well, you know the answer, they smile with a smart expression...the television said that only the Israelis and the Americans have a real interest in seeing Egypt on its knees...
...So, we cannot count on "moderate" Arabs, not even on the group of youngsters that I meet later, the girls dressed just like ours: They repeat to me, still with a smart little face, "It cannot be a Muslim, it's certainly the Israelis and the Americans."
Sandmonkey, is that what you or your fellow demonstrators truly believe?
I am sick and tired of your right wing / worst light crap soloman. not to mention the weight of the refrences you use.
Karim:
Thank you for your assurance that this is "crap". That's exactly what I need.
Best of luck from someone born behind the Iron Curtain. Never thought that Berlin Wall would fall in my lifetime.
