Election Updates
The Kifaya demonstration went underway as planned, despite government warning of demonstration crackdown. They had about 1000 people in it. Pictures will be availible later. The election results won't come out before Saturday according to the election commission. The IDSC keeps monitoring my website. I keep seeing their IP address. This is how many times they have visited me today. Me, nervous? Nope. Terrified? Sure! I am going to go monitor the polls after work with friends to see what's going on. Will update you guys later.

Sand Man, be very careful when revealing your online identities to people. Egypt isn't the United States, you know.
You're making me worry for you, Sandmonkey. I'm making a donation (albeit small) to your escape fund right now. Readers--we should cover his back.
I was going to say something about protecting your identity, but I see someone already did that.
fantastic picture. i like the contrast of her innocent face with her ink stained finger. looks like blood.
Ayman Nour's wife said it's easy to remove this ink with any deodorant. Now they'll accuse her of fraud :)
Sam, stop Paranoia ok.
The IDSC doesn't monitory you, I guess you just got fans there. We all have! IDSC is an internet provider as well. I have many friends working there or in close relation to the RITSEC etc...
Vox populi.
There is no suspense. Mubarak has already won, the elections is just the decoration...
Hi Sandmonkey,
I've been reading your log for about five months and I really appreciate it. May be we don't agree about the attracttion of downtown Cairo and the metro system (I like both) but I agree with your opinions about the political climate in Egypt.
So keep up your log and let us know as soon you are intimidated by those so called "security services".
During my one month stay in downtown in july I really felt sorry about the brown and black clothed guys in their trucks and blamed their superiours. In my opinion Egypt is and a class society ( and I don't blame you for it, but you are one of the more priviliged) and and has an oppressive government.
Today's elections might be a start for change but the elections in november should be more important.
Wish you alle the strength you need and please use your log when things go bad.
May be yoiur readers can make a deal, no updates in three days mean troubles !. And for us your foreigne readers: Action !
good luck,
Pim
Just said something about tapped phones in your last entries forum...
Careful careful carefu... It's too late now but I should have gone through an anonymous server when I started.
Gotta agree with R though - if it's the IDSC it's probably someone who is bored and enjoy reading you. But for sure the real agencies are watching you too. There's no reason they shouldn't.
