Palestinians celebrate Israel's withdrawel from Gaza by burning synagogues. It's their own way of playing "tit-for-tat". The synagogue in the isolated settlement of Morag in southern Gaza was set ablaze minutes after hundreds of Palestinians stormed in. "They (Israelis) destroyed our homes and our mosques," said a man who gave his name only as Abu Ahmed. "Today it is our turn to destroy theirs." The synagogues were a focus of Palestinian anger after 38 years of Israeli occupation, primarily because they were among the only buildings left standing. Shortly after removing the last of the settlers two weeks ago, Israel sent in bulldozers to level the houses, leaving only a few public buildings and the synagogues. Ok, so these buildings are some of the few buildings left, and they set them on fire instead of using them? Ok, that makes sense!

Israelis destroyed every other building they had in occupied Gaza and they fucked up the entire infrastructure. So why the hell did they leave the synagogues intact? Because they know that Palestinians will destroy them eventually and thus give them the opportunity to slander the Palestinians and Islam. Then cry to the world and the UN and their beloved Kofi "who they label as pro-Palestinian" asking them please help us to save the the Jewish holy sites from Islamic savagery. Meanwhile, these buildings are not synagogues or anything anymore, they are free from religious books, symbols etc. they are just cement and bricks and they don't give a shit about them.
Kudos to the Israelis as they played it good and it's another proof of the PA stupidity!

And I don't think that they - Israel - brought the subject to the UN. To be honest, I don't remember hearing about Koffi making any comments about this either.
Kudos for Sandmonkey for writing what is presently one of my favourite blogs.
Of course Israel knew those synagogues would be destroyed, that is not the issue. The issue is how the Palestinians do it. They could have hired some of their own jobless people to disassemble or demolish those synagogues in a respectful manner, instead of burning them and making a celebration of it. These are the kinds of things that show you the character of the people you are dealing with.
Considering that the Muslims (or the Jews, or the Christians, for that matter) have never had any problem turning sacred places from other religions into their own sacred places...and considering they are all consecrated to the same God according to Islam...I agree with Sandmonkey.
Why not use the buildings?
Heck, if you really want to get back at Israel, use the building for waste storage or something but at least use it.
If you want your own state, start acting like a people who can run one instead of cranky toddlers.
For all the Israelis aggression, killings, invading, occupying, torture and building the wall...let the Palestinians do what they please for goodness sake!
When you are thrown in the street and your family is killed infront of you and your building is demolished I would like to see how would you react to getting your land back after 38 years of being homeless.
These synagogues teaches hate also towards arabs and Palestinians. Too bad you don't get to see how much haterd there is towards arabs from Israelis.

Hmm, replace 38 years of being homeless with 2000 years of being homeless and you have just described the jewish population of Palestine on May 15, 1948. What did Israelis do, you might ask..well, danced and sang on the street, read the declaration of independence and called for peace with their neighbors. Started to build a country and defend against attack, absorbed hundreds of 100s of 1000s of refugees from all over the world-Europe, Yemen, Morroco, Iraq, Iran, Lebabon. Opened universities, hospitals built buildings, planted trees, put the horrible past behind them.
The Palestinians will never get anywhere in life if all they continue to do is hate and destroy. Lets hear a speech on education, what will kids learn this upcoming year?, religious tolerance, civil liberties, etc.. That would have been nice, what are their plans? How do they hope to build?
Expectations are so low for them, that no one even bats an eyelash when they behave this way. Its expected.

You invade a land of others and adopt refugees what a joke! you suck up the Palestinian lands and resources and give it to illegal residents of an occupied land.
Funiest part of your post is the "Planted trees.."you must be in La La land my friend the Palm trees are stolen from the Palestinian lands up to this, Palestinian farmers wake up in the mornings to the sound of the Israeli army machinery stealing Palm trees by thousands.
It is not the fault of the Palestinians that you had no land. Your killings, torture, stealing of land and sucking up resources is the main reason of why you are hated.
There is no peace without Justice. Until you learn to become civilized and stop stealing lands then people will respect you and co-exist with you.
Cough up the land and money of the Palestinians. The Palestinian children are murdered on daily basis in the streets of the west bank, they are starving what education are you talking about in the next year?. The Palestinian mothers are giving birth in the streets because your soldiers won't allow them to go to the hospital.
