Isn't it wonderful when big business can work in harmony with evil, repressive regimes?
Now if only they can work out how to supply North Korea with a better internal spy network we can get rid of all those horrible freedom lovers!
I won't be using Yahoo search engine again!
Won't it be wonderful when China supplants the US as the world's sole superpower, at least that is the feeling I seem to see expressed in the Euromedia.
I feel like we talked about this in international business class - whether it is ethical to follow the guidelines of a country you do business in - or to subscribe to the ethical standards of the country you incorporate it. It becomes really interesting in a social sciences kind of way - I'm interested to see if there is any backlash about this particular item - as there seems to always be tons of backlash when we do anything that (god forbid) violates the cultural standards we have in the U.S.
Yeah, but Kate, that case was Yahoo against the Jews over Nazi paraphanelia. Who is gonna be suing Yahoo this time? They did nothing "legally" wrong, you know?
They didn't do anything "legally" wrong in the other case either - it's all a matter of judgment. I'm not expecting any lawsuits - as I was saying before - I just find it interesting where people decide to direct their anger and attempts to make change. Attacking one corrupt and unfree country over another, all those crazy forces at work. Sorry I'm not doing a very good job of explaining myself.
