The Jews have a sense of humor

In light of recent events dealing with cartoons, and how Iran is running it's own anti-semetic cartoon context (cause that's different then the rest of the cartoons they usually publish, right?), the israelis have decided to retaliate by...... having their own anti-semetic Cartoons contest???? Amitai Sandy (29), graphic artist and publisher of Dimona Comix Publishing, from Tel-Aviv, Israel, has followed the unfolding of the "Muhammad cartoon-gate" events in amazement, until finally he came up with the right answer to all this insanity - and so he announced today the launch of a new anti-Semitic cartoons contest - this time drawn by Jews themselves! "We'll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!" said Sandy "No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!"

LOL Nice!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in some ways this goes to the heart of the matter. In the West and in Jewish tradition, Comedy and especially cartoons is mostly about undercutting the pretentions of the pompous. It acts as a vital reality check on the powerful. My impression is that muslims see Comedy primarily as a question of the strong laughing at the weak from a sense of superiority. I think that this explains much of the disconnect over the cartoons. Westerners (apart from those so infected by the Politically Correct Virus that they have lost their sense of humour), see cartoons as a way of undercutting those whose position of power (or terror) or imperviousness to rational argument. Many Muslims seem to see them as a way of the West laughing at them from a sense of superiority. Its just a shame that only one ofthe cartoonists actually had the wit or bravery to make his cartoon funny.

I'm sure they would be better than the derivative Nazi trash the Muslim regularly use

Not exactly a new move for Jews. Didn't Mel Brooks make a movie about a pair of failed Jewish showbiz wannabees who thought they could scam some investors by mounting a play called "Springtime for Hitler". I fully expect that these cartoons will actually be funny (much funnier than the Danish 'toons) as opposed to merely offensive which is the Islamists' style, but it won't be Jews who are mocked so much as the classic hateful characterizations of Jews by the usual suspects.

waterdragon -- "The Producers". One of the funniest movies ever. Remade into one of the funniest Broadway musicals ever, which was made (follow me) into a kind of remake of the first film, but as the musical, a big hit just this Christmas. I just think of the opening sequence of the musical-within-the-musical and start giggling:
"Springtime for Hitler and Germany,
Winter for Poland and France;
We're moving to a faster pace,
Look out, here comes the Master Race!"
With tap-dancing SS troops and a psychedlic-hippie Hitler (who is the reason why the musical becomes a big hit, as opposed to the big close-in-one-night flop the producers wanted).

But it had to have been written by a Jewish guy. I just don't think a Gentile could have a) found that mordant wit and b) pulled it off.

Anyway, Jewish people have a great tradition of comedy *and* self-criticism, I'm sure they can come up with something more creative than (yawn) Ariel Sharon with a Nazi armband throttling a couple of poor little Palestinians. And probably more devastating, to be honest.

P.S. Wade - which one did you think was funny? The only one I found really topical or interesting was the one of the cartoonist drawing the Prophet, with shades drawn, while looking over his shoulder and sweating. I thought that was a good cartoon. All too apt, as things have turned out.

I love it! :D

The world becomes more and more funny since the reactions to the danish cartoons went out of control...

The hate of the islamists ist the best inspiration for new satirical cartoons and texts.

But don't be worry SM, in Europe there are enough idiots too. They only have not THAT political power which they seems to have in the muslim world...

Heyyy ....

So, "The Producers" is being performed in Israel!

Seriously, Jews donning Nazi armbands and doing beautiful musical numbers.

If the Arabs want to know why the West and the Jews keep kicking their butts . . . perhaps they need to stop taking themselves so seriously? Perhaps Mr. Sandmonkey can help show Egyptians . . .

Anyway, "The Producers" is also being re-made by Hollywood, which is no longer capable of creating new movies, for some reason. Maybe because America is taking itself too seriously? Anyway, they are casting that dork Matthew Broderick. Jeeez! *tsk*tsk*tsk*

Keep on bloggin, good sit, im shah allah! :)

That’s a great idea! Pity those caricatures don’t have a chance to be published in countries where the jewish community has forbiden them, such as France, where the “anti-semitic” law will lead you directly to jail if either you dare publish them.
Those cartoons will be exclusively used in Israel. They are for internal use, mocking what jews think of jews and ignoring the outside world. What the world is waiting for is rather caricatures like for example a palestinian resistant throwing a stone at an israeli tank and the tank chief officer poping out of the tank and shouting to the palestinian “you…terrorist!”, that would really show a sense of humour, but it’s not what we will get, or is it?
