.org makes most sense, but .com tends to be easier to remember. I would go with .com.
it really depends who you are "targeting". .org is american but .com is more an european thing :)
How about .eu? To really stir thigs up a bit.
BTW good to have you back! :)
Not entirely sure that's true Kirle. US sites use .org too - mainly organizations such as congress.org, rnc.org, democrats.org. I think the main difference is that businesses tend to go for .com (= commercial), while private orgnizations tend to use .org.
.org is for non-profit organisations and .com is for commercial ventures, at least originally.
I think you could be a Sandmonkey organisation.
Ah.. Apologies, got them switched. US businesses use .com too though - microsoft.com, coca-cola.com, mcdonalds.com.
I know UN uses .org, but I'll admit I haven't seen many European organizations use it.
Definitely .org.
First, that makes the shorter URL (and everyone HATES typing).
Seconds, COM looks commercial, ORG doesn't. Even if everyone, no matter if commercial or not, can register COM or ORG. It's just a question of perception.
I would definitely go with the .org
.com is the easier for me to remember.
Go with the shorter alternative.
Put my vote in for .org, just make sure that I can find you with Google/Yahoo/MSN.
Could it not be sandmonkey.com? If it has to be sandmonkeyblog.com, I'd go with the .org one!
sandmonkey is better than sandmonkeyblog ... easier to remember
I always throw the .com in when typing an url. If that doesn't work, then I've got to do a search. KISS.
I'd go for .org, sandmonkeyblog.com doesn't trip off the tongue as easily as sandmonkey.org.
Com sounds more accessible than org, but make it sandmonkey.com without the blog part.
Will you change your blog format, appearance? I think this template perfectly says the Sandmonkey... try not to change it.
You have become more an organization than a commercial thingy. So go for the sandmonkey.org. Besides people usually think better of .orgs than .coms. You are suppose to dislike microsoft.com, coca-cola.com, etc., but luv the .orgs
sandmonkey.com is taken by a shitty band. sandmonkey.net is taken by a finish architect student for some dumb ass reason.
sandmonkeyblog.com
.org makes me think of a nonprofit group. .com is more generic; all sorts of people are .coms.
Besides, you're too individualistic to be an organization.
Yeah, I would pick the sandmonkey.org too. Your fans will remember this in a jiff.
By the way, did anybody notice the email address for the goon that owns sandmonkey.com?
It is: bushisachimp@sandmonkey.com
sandmonkeyblog.com reminds me of taking care of buisness, where .org always makes me feel like they want my money.
.org -- it's more concise
steven, also taken!
.org ya basha :)
I vote for...
sandmonkeyblog.com
Egyptiansandmonkey.com then because, more tellingly, you are no ordinary sandmonkey, but a patriotic Egyptian Sandmonkey. Go for it, I think this is the best choice. Plus, this is how we already know your url, except without the extra 'blog' part.
To all the org fans...don't you think the "org" part sounds a lot like throw-up?:-)
I thought about the Egyptiansandmonkey.com also. But, seeing that SM has it all together up there, he must have had his reasons for not doing it. :-)
Why not grab them both, and then have both url's link to the same server page so that when you update one, it automatically updates the other? Granted, it's a few dollars a month more, but you still only have to keep up one site (because both url's point to the same site), and you get the best of all worlds. That's what I do.
I agree with both...but if I had to choose one, I would go with sandmonkey.org. Why limit yourself and add more letters to type with sandmonkeyblog? Although I do agree with the others who have a preference for .com addresses.
Sandmonkey.org - org is common with think tanks and you definitely are a think tank!
These times we're all Danes, remember. So why not go for a Danish address, like Sandmonkey.dk. It is probably available.
Sandmonkey.dk is available. I just checked. But you better be real quick, or I may take it! And it's not going to be cheap, if you have to buy it from me!
I had thought you were coming up with a more PC name so big media bloggers could give you props and didnt now because a name like sandmonkey might be considered PC?
I think sandmonkeyblog is too long
sandmonkey.org
sandmonkey.org is best.
Get both .org and .com and then redirect from the .com to the .org site.
Let everyone know that you are an architect who plays in a shitty band. When they decide to whack the sandmonkey they will take out a shitty band and an architect..all problems solved. Well some people will have a small problem but c'est la vie.
I've never seen a blog that ended in .org, but maybe they will become more common in the future. If you were living in Canada as I am, you could try .ca!!
My preference is .com, but whatever you decide, good luck.
...or Sandmonkey.eg
Nah. Either com or org.
shorter is better
sandmonkey.org
Shari
.com
No brainer.......it is the most popular, the most well known.

sorry bout the dupe
Gotta be .com, dude.
P.S. Use that bonus cash from your work to buy your ticket to the U.S.!
How about this?
dontworry_myIQis150pointshigherthanislamicjihad-sandmonkey.com
You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it
