Chicken protests

Egyptians are taking the streets in protest against the government...over its policies to contain the "birdflu epidemic". The protesters are poultery breeders and merchants, who got really hit hard by the mass slaughter of all live chickens in the country and the closing of their shops. They protested on Sunday as Freedom reports, and they protested again yesterday. It doesn;t help of course the rumors that the reason behind the governments violent "containment" policies are linked to tankers filled with frozen imported chicken- which can be sold with no problem- that belong to croneys of the government's ministers. The whole situation is depressing, because no one took the streets to protest the government's bungeling of the rescue efforts to the Ferry which killed more than 1000 egyptians, but they are doing it over the death of their chickens. Further proof that we- as egyptian- don't value each other's lives and have no respect for it, and are only motivated to act when our own liveliehood and comfort are threatend. Whatever....

If I recall, there were large protests about the ferry sinking.

What is going on with that anyhow? I heard they got the black box.
