Nadz kicks ass

You know, we may have just found my arab female equal: NADZ! She is funny, she is hardcore and she definitely deserves more attention. You need some evidence to persuade you, check out her latest post here on "Hijab female empowerment": Anyhow, I thought I'd continue what I began with my bashing of the college hippies by discussing another group on campus that annoys the crap out of me - the hijab squad. They're a group of creepily pious Muslim women who go around campus talking about how flawless conservative Islam is and how "empowered" they are by their headgear. Yep, empowered. Everyone seems to love that word now, despite the fact that it's pretty meaningless . Porn actresses talk about how "empowered" they are by their "work". The "actresses" in the recent Charlie's Angels movie (*shudders*, the movie that sucked out my soul) talked about how killing people and blowing things up was about empowerment. And now these little postergirls for male oppression are getting in the act. Glad i am not the only one who thinks that this sharia female empowerment stuff is a bunch of bullcrap! There is more! Read the whole thing!

The hijab is 'empowering' in the same way that the afro was in the US in the 60s. If everyone was doing it...then these same people would probably begin to do something else.

They say that the reason they cover up from head to toe is because they don't want to "tempt" men. It seem to me that the Imams are failing their responsibilities by not teaching men to exercise a little more self control. What kind of man would lose all self control at the sight of an ankle or a wrist? What kind of man can not handle the sight of a woman's hair in the sunshine? What makes someone take one of God's most beautiful creations and makes them look like sad little blackbirds?

I agree that women should be modest (sorry Sam), but not to the extent of covering every inch of your body. The thought of not feeling the wind through your hair on a sunny day just because some man can't control his instincts is offensive. Empowering? I don't think so.

This is out of topic but Sandmonkey, I wished to thank you for your discerning and sensitive comment on my bombing post, you are one of the very few who understood. Being able to read between the lines you have just scored even more points in my book.
