No defense for Saddam

Critics to the Saddam Hussein trial- who claim it's not fair- may finally have a point in one sense : No one is willing to defend him, altough not because he is a mass-murdering fuckhead and they are decent human beings as I hoped to be the case. There was more then 1100 cocroache... lawyers willing to defend him after all. It's just that being Saddam's Laywer in a country where he opressed 80% of the populations, well, it's not exactly safe. 2 Lawyers have died so far, and the majority aren't willing to take on the risk. Some 1,100 Iraqi lawyers have withdrawn from Saddam Hussein's defense team, citing insufficient protection following the slayings of two peers representing co-defendants of the ousted Iraqi leader. In a statement obtained Sunday, the lawyers did not say whether Saddam's chief Iraqi attorney, Khalil al-Dulaimi, was among those who withdrew. But the statement said other members of the team in Baghdad were continuing their duties "under complex and dangerous circumstances." Awww... Don't you just feel so bad for them? I don't know, maybe I am biased, but they get no sympathy from me. I am one of those people who doesn't even want to see Saddam getting a trial. I just want to see him dead in the worst way possible. In the worst way he used to kill his victims. After his death, I would like his grave to become a public urinal. That's what I would like. Now, why can't we have that? Why extend due process and justice to a man that showed none to his victims? Why is he still alive while his victims are dead? Why bother with the trial? What will he say in his defense exactly? People during my rule were not tortured and killed? I didn't start 2 wars of agression because I felt like it? I didn't gass my own people? What can he possibly say? Just kill him and get it over with. Public execution. Just kill the monster.

"Just kill him and get it over with. Public execution. Just kill the monster."___You are completely wrong there. The whole war is between those who believe in fair, properly conducted trials for serial killers, and those who believe in arbitrary executions and lynching. As for public executions, that is a medieval practice. There should be no public executions anywhere in the 20th or 21st centuries. If you want to go back to the Middle Ages, join Al Qaeda. I want to see the Rule of Law - secular law.

The irony is that these twerps were offered protection from Coalition Forces, which was rejected for propaganda value.

I'd say that some folks are learning propaganda makes a crappy flak vest.
