"would you like fries with that?"

Thomas L. Friedman observed in is 1999 book "Lexus and the Olive tree":

no two countries that both had a McDonald's had fought a war against each other, since each got its McDonald's.

hmm, is Ronald loosing his magic?

In Friedman's latest book, I think he alters this statement. He now says something like "no two nations that utilize a complex, interoconnected global supply chain" will fight wars. He offers Dell and how they use Chinese factories in an integrated way.

What are you 2 talking about??
It has nothing to do wtih Friedman but with some crazy lunatic deranged pakistanis! whats mcdonalds got to do with the cartoons??? doesnt that prove how idiotic & barbaric they are?

jokerman,

let me spell it out

see Ronald in the background? Well it’s kind of symbolic. What does Ronald represent? - McDonalds. What does McDonalds represent? - globalization and Western values. Friedman wrote a whole book on the topic.

Islam also has aspirations of globalizations but this one has a slightly different value set to the one Friedman had in mind.

My apologies for being too subtle for you.

No wonder, USA Army is accepting now citizen with previous criminal records! It is good way America to get rid of criminals out there and just get Middle East degraded more and more while some people like this Monkey spend most of his time defending your political trend more than what Bush does!

Don't these idiotic Pakistanis realize that McDonalds, is a FRANCHISE??? It is very most likely OWNED by a local?? (And McD's isn't Danish!) Next, (in a related story) they burned a bus station, owned by South Koreans! OK, help me with the math. They burn a bus station. HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY (the pakistanis) SUPPOSED TO GET AROUND TOWN??? WHO is hurt the worst? Now we have a Gay movie, "In the Name of Allah" about to be released. Won't this be fun?

Do you have any other credible sources other than Thomas friedman?
The guy is very good but when it comes to ME mentality, he doesnt get it right.
Now I dont know what you mean by Islam has global aspirations, i dont know where you got this rubbish from & if friedman did say it then im afraid he is wrong too.
What you might mean is some Muslims have a global aspiration but then show me in stats what they did for it other than a few stupid speeches & books written by radicals. Islam has no plan to out it simple & subtle to you.
& that Ronald statue im sorry doesnt mean globalisation to me, freidman uses a more advanced techincal word for primitive simplistic pakistanis who just want to burn anything thats foreign & they would have burned mcdonalds on orders from a cleric who hates america. They woulsdnt have burned it because it stands for Globalisation, they dont understand globalisation to begin with.

Poor Ronald - but tragically an 8 year old boy died during this mayhem. All together 3 have died.

So after the new Abu Ghraib pictures no way this is cooling down. Or...?
If Denmark still is the bad guy next week, there is something other than prophet bashing behind the trouble.

believe me, sometimes it can be as simple as that. The masses dont know better, majority of the clerics ordering them dont know much either & dont care for globalisation, it all needs a smart guy to tell them mcdonalds is a spying centre or they stuff their macs & fries with cancerous material & they will buy it.

It is incredibly stupid to burn independant buisnesses. There is some poor Pakistani who worked very hard to earn enough to buy a franchise just to see those who probably could never afford to eat there take it all away from him. Too stupid to understand that this doesn't hurt the west only their neighborhood making it harder to want to invest in their part of the world.

It is all just a show.

"See how much rediculous violence I can cause without even trying?".

"I can get the mob to burn a Plastic Ronald McDonald".

"I can get the mob to burn an embassy".

"Imagine how much trouble the West would have if it did something serious, like Bomb Tehran, Invade Syria or cut off aid to Hamas?"

Just another immunisation shot (sigh). All scenes like these do is 'prove' that all muslims are mad, violent and want westerners dead. Why immunisation ? because if Iran goes too far with its nuke program and the Great Satan unleashes the forces of Hell on them then a lot of people will nod their head and look wise when they say "had to be done".

At least nobody is wearing a Yankees hat in this picture.

I have read your blog for the past few days. I am an American. I made some comments on my blog. I did so because I was very angry. I arrived at your site via IMAO. After viewing your site and realizing where you were from I deleted some of my more angry posts. Not because of any self imposed restrictions but because I now know I can not lump all Arabs in the same group. I should have known this. My country was founded on the precepts of inclusiveness and I almost let my anger get the best of me. Do not worry. No one visits my website. I just needed to clear my conscience. I still feel that those of the radical Islam faith are fundamantilly flawed. I still feel wrath and anger towards them. I should not have included my anger towards all Arabs. I do not apologise for my words excepting this. I am writing this because I enjoy your website and would like to comment occasionily. My website is rightagainhuh.blogspot.com.

You have you head in the sand jokerman (to put it kindly). Check this out:

"We believe in Islam, we believe in the rule of the Caliphate and we do not support a separation between state and religion," Sarsur said.

you just now figuring that out?

It starts with "P" that is true.
but it ends with "olitcal power"
Which is nothing new.

Ok, agree it sounded quite naive. I know that there is P for Politics behind. Local "war-lords" see this as an oportunity to get back for a lot of other things.

Now they are burning KFC as well. Probably because they think US is behind the birdflu :-)

I will try to put it to you as simply as possible.
There is nothing in ISLAM that states anything like that.
There is nothing in the Quran that says Sarsur is always right, nothing that says or comes close to the unity between the state & religion, & by the way, that notion of state & mosque is easily refuted, Even Mohamed didnt advocate it.
So clever dicky, an idiot says something & you claim Islam says so too, how very interesting you are, has it occured to you that those are fanatics who use religion & how ignorant people are to recruit more? hasnt it occured to you that the same can be said regarding any religion. There is a vast diference between what ISLAM actually says & what Muslims say!
now do you get it, do you make the distinction? who the f*** is sarsur? who cares about him? sarsur as far as i know isnt Islam so get your facts right & dont call others with names when it suits you best.

again
that hafwit says " We believe in Islam, we believe in the rule of the Caliphate and we do not support a separation between state and religion"
thats a load of tosh to begin with.
Historically speaking, it doesnt stand at all. The 4 caliphates who succeeded Mohamed didnt call or act as state & religion were one.
1- Abu Bakr, fought battles with those who didnt accept his caliphate , made a mistake to fight others who refused to pay the alms as they did in the days of Mohamed. He also orderd the compilation of the Quran which Mohamed hadnt mentioned.
2- Omar, Cancelled a direct law in the Quran, citing its obsoletness. Strived in other laws & accomodated it with its present circumstances.
3- Osman, appointed his relatives & loved ones in EVERY position available, he exiled a well known companion, abu zerr, from the Madina, beat up another one till his ribs were broken, Ordered conflicting Qurans, there were several due to the dialect, to be burnt & left the Quraishy dialect which lives till today. Osman was confined to his house during a revolution that overtook the Madina by storm, was assassinated in his own home.
4- Ali changes the capital from Madina to Kufa, he battles 2 of the companions + Mohamed's wife in the first civil war, he then goes on to battle the Levantine forces led by Muaweyah & Amr who manage to escape the routing by a devious plan that divides Ali's army. A faction rebels against Ali & many battles between them both take palce, mainly the Nahrawan where the Kharijites are massacred but there are plenty more to wage battles later on. 3 Kharijites agree on assassinating Ali, Muwayah & Amr in Kufa, damascuss & cairo respectively. Only Ali is killed while the other attempts are foiled.
where is he religion in this brief history mr doxraven? why dont you ask your mentor mr sarsur the roach to fill you in?
Instead of surfign websites, i suggest you go read some books first, to educate yourself on thematter, not anyone who says BS is correct unless you want to belive it.

jokerman,

who the f*** is sarsur?
it's in the link I provided.

Ibrahim Sarsur, head of the United Arab List, which is running for Knesset jointly with Ahmed Tibi's Ta'al party, said today in a press conference that his party believes in Islamic rule over Israel, in the form of a renewed Caliphate. IsraelNN.com

now, you can rant and rave all you want about this verse or that verse, or what happened 1400 odd years ago.

Islam is about as much about how it is practiced as it is about how it is written.

Al Qaeda today launched "Voice of the Calpihate" (Sout al-Khilafa), a weekly video magazine that promotes the group's aims to establish a global caliphate. Sep 23 05

you might not like the brand of Islam that they are promoting but they read the same Quran, and what they preach has support with the masses from Marocco to UK to the Sudan to Pakistan to Indonesia .

At 2/16/2006 04:50:00 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

doxraven, you are a thicko!
When i said who is sarsur, i didnt give a moneky's arse who he is because he doesnt represent Islam, for your big brains, there is no one who can represent ISlam, unlike the pope in catholic christianity for example.
Who said Ibrahim sarsur has the support of the masses? where is your proof? who appointed sarsur to speak of Islam? why isnt it the grand sheikh of al Azhar in cairo, or the king of saudi arabia, the custodian of the 2 mosques? what about the aqsa muftim, they all can speak just as better than your mr sarsur, whom i never heard of before.
& which Islam do you mean doxi? Shiite or sunni? surely you realise there r differences between them both, & who said they reasd the same quran even, they read the quran in a literal sense that renders the quran intelligible, they extract the verses from their historical purpose & environmental habitat to suit their own deeds, so pls dont try to be smart in something yiou obviosuly have no idea about, dont talk about Islam & tell me mr goat has the support of the masses, i dont care about the masses or roach(sarsur) even, nothing in the Quran or mohameds teachings says to listen to the masses & that there is one person to speak of ISlam, ok? do you get it now or do i have to overwhelm you with books & titles & names that refute your mr roach & show how ignorant he & the so called masses are?
Its like you have found what you were looking for to prove something & holding on to it with dear life, its nothing doxi, NOTHING, what you are saying or roachie is saying or the masses is saying is not ISLAM, & if we apply your so called subrhetoric about what people practice, then christianity would be contradictory with its own tenets, & the same with judaism aswell, if we were to know each faith by how its followers act then these relgions would be lambasted easily.
your argument is baseless & ridiculous.

I didnt want to bring this up but why the hell not.
I would like to see Muslim countries resurrect the caliphate, that would be fun indeed.
Now mr roach didnt mention by any chance where the caliphate will be?? who will be the calipha i wonder & will he rule over islamic countries while their leaders give up their powers to him??
for the umpteenth time, there is no such thing that Islam should rule over any country, let alone Israel, just like christianity & judaism dont rule over any land, bcause the statement itself has no meaning.

At 2/16/2006 11:24:00 AM, Blogger doxRaven said...

jokey,

who appointed sarsur to speak of Islam?

i, in turn ask, who appointed you to speak of Islam?

In the end Islam is what is done in its name not what you or I say it is, or even what is written.

you say there is no one that can represent islam

so what? any ant in an ant hill does not represent the colony, yet there is an overall organization and mission.
Some ants will be worker ants feeding the young others will be army ants expanding and defending the colony.

Yes, Islam, as a religion (personal believe system), and not as a political force, does not have the deep hierarchical structure. The US would love to think that getting rid of OBL will somehow solve the problem of fundamentalist Islam. They now have learned otherwise.

I, and I suspect most non-muslims, have no problem with Islam as a personal believe system. When Islam is used as a political and legal instrument to satisfy megalomaniac ambitions, is when the problem starts.
