Touche

Elengil, who I would so have a crush on for her brain alone if she wasn't already involved, has just posted the following comment on what seems to be the prevelant opinion amongst the APU, and I think it's genius: "Collective punishment is wrong. But only against us. If we decide to collectively punish you, then that's ok because you all deserve it. But don't you dare generalize all of us, no matter how much we generalize you. Oh and by the way, an attack on one Arab country is an attack on all Arab countries.. but please don't assume that means an attack BY one Arab country means an attack by all Arab countries cause that would be a logical falacy. Somehow. So remember: Generalizations of us by you: Wrong Generalizations of you by us: Right And don't you dare criticize our violence, cause then we'll kill you, and that'll just prove how peaceful we really are! Take that you american and zionist pig-dogs and your Democratically elected leaders that we hate and have caused the world to turn on you. But don't you dare criticise *our* democratically elected terrorist organization, because they were elected, so you have to like them, no matter how much we hate your democratically elected leaders - it's right to assume that the whole of America supported everything Bush stood for since as many as 50% voted for him, but it would be wrong to assume that every Palestinian supports everything Hamas stands for since only around 80% voted for them." Now, honestly, tell me, how true is THAT?

Wow! I am forever indebted to Elengil for explaining just how things work!

Now it all makes sense! I’ll rearrange all of my thinking and opinions accordingly.

A round of applause is in order.

Have anyone stopped to think how the danish people feel about having millions of angry muslims threatening them, burning their flag, beating up people?

The danish people had nothing to do with the cartoons, yet they are being targeted; by people who is frustrated that thet themselves are being targeted through their prophet... This doesn't seem right!
The muslim world should demonstrate their anger, peacefully, against the newspaper - but have shown to the world, the lack of tolerance and ability to look at oneself! It is now known by anybody in the world, that muslims regularly prints antisemithic cartoons much worse than the muhammad cartoons: The hipocrasy is very evident, yet the muslims just keep burning in their uncontrollable anger...
Nobody really understands your reaction; though we talk nice to you to try to calm you down - like you talk to a child thats having a fit!

Cant you see you are hurting your religion?

Make'm angry and instill fear on them.
Make them join the global terrorist - a.k.a. the US -
to burn and slaughter more muslims.

Jylland Posten wanted to incite bigot hatred and - well
- they succeeded - see in the mirror.

No; Jyllands-Posten did not want to incite bigot hatred.
Who ever gave you that silly idea?

They wanted to see if it was true that writers, cartoonists and artists censured themselves when it comes to islam in fear of the reation from extremists within islam.

Have you seen the 12 cartoons?
Most of them have nothing to do with islam whatsoever.
Only one shows anything that can be seen as critisism towards islam; namely the one with Mohammed with a bomb in his turban - showing that terror and violence is committed wordlwide in the name of islam without any kind of outcry from the muslim world.

SM,

This is why you have a world of people out here, scratching their heads, saying huh? and building bunkers just to be on the safe side.

Since none of it really makes much sense, we have all sides covered.

I'll post this here first before breaking this heart breaking news elsewhere.

I apologise to all Muslims for the recent Qur'an burnings in and around Vancouver, Canada. There have been a number of secret meetings in the city and environs during which people have burnt Qur'ans.

I find this deplorable, and I am sorry to write that it happened at all. I urge all concerned to stop burning Qur'ans. The planned Qur'an burning should not take place. Those in Burnaby, Surrey, and White Rock who burned Qur'ans have already received copies of this plea, and I hope those in North Vancouver and Haney will also receive them soon.

I understand that those who meet to burn Qur'ans in New West Minster are refusing to cease their activities. This is shameful. Please, do not continue this activity.

The Qur'an burnings planned for tomorrow evening in the above mentioned cities should not take place.

Those who are expressing a wilingness to join this activity in such places as Prince George and Penticton should consider the depths of feeling this will provoke in our Muslim communities, and simple prudence should encourage them to cease all such considerations immediately.

I ask that all concerned forward this notice to people who might be similarly concerned. I think it's high time that we inform our Muslim friends that even though there are dozens of Qur'an burnings going on in Vancouver weekly that it represents only a small minorty of extremists, not the vast majority of peaceful citizens here who know that Islam is a religion of peace.
Thank you, Dag.

Before you jump to conclusions and condemn the Jylland-Posten, or Danes in general, why not read the newspaper's intent of the article?. There needs to be more understanding all around.

I ask you again, why do we need to look in a mirror? Why do we even need to read danish cartoons? All anybody has got to do to see bigotry and hatred is read any of the 348 one line rants you've left on this blog, in the last 2 days.

Sandmonkey, is this guy posting from Northern California? Can you check his IP for us?

Dag,

I know how you feel about the things taking place in Canada.
However, I find it more interesting what is happening in China.

China, as you know, is experiencing very rapid economic growth. It is putting enormous strain on their electric infrastructure.

The Chinese have determined that the best type of fuel to burn is the Quran. Virtually every new housing development has a thermal power plant whose main source of fuel is Qurans. The crazy Islamists in Saudia Arabia think there is a major expansion of Islam going on in China right now! They keep sending ocean freighter and ocean freighter full of Qurans.

Do we really need to spread rumours about burning Qurans? Are certain visitors to this blog going to laugh about that, even if it was made in jest?

(I prefer Delta myself, though. They have better Indian clothing stores ;) )

Hey, whatever suits you!

Canadians generally are too laid-back to demonstrate against anything (except maybe the US ;) )

Many of my fellow Canadians like to protest at the so-called anti-war rallies, anti-US rallies, anti-israel rallies, anti-globalization rallies..you get the the picture.

I really did enjoy your post.

elengil, maybe sandmonkey said that on purpose, with the intention of finding out if indeed you were "already invloved."

Trust me,if Canadians were burning the koran,we'd have all heard about it by now! But why should it even matter if anyone burned copies of the koran or the Bible? Printed words are not "holy" in and of themselves, and God is not appalled or offended when fallen humans do stupid things.
