My girls got my Back

You know, when Tomanbay went after me in his post, I wasn't very surprised, because it's not the first time this happens to me, especially from an egyptian male blogger. You see, the funny thing I have noticed about the sandmonkey egyptian readers demographic is that it is very much divided along gender lines: The majoirty of the guys have serious issues with me, if not outright hate me, while the girls, ehh, how do I put this, they LOVE ME. This phenomenon is not limited just to egyptian girls either; it's middle-eastern girls in general. And all things considerd, I am glad this is the way it is, because it means I am appealing to the thinking segment of the egyptian- and arab- society. Not to mention the cutest segment too. However, when I am just web-surfing and I stumble upon something like the open letter that Yasmina and A Pair of Borwn Eyes wrote in my support and posted on both their blogs, it just makes my heart warm up. Thank you girls for the the thought and effort put in this. Thank you very very very much.

Then again it may be just a guy thing. Guys can spot a duplicitous self indulgent and egotistical little sandmonkey from a mile away and even over the net. The same may not be said for the other half of the equation who's egos you are stroking(while thinking of other things that....oh well, you know)and are luring into your trap. Guys are more balanced, having both an X & Y chromosone whereas women are deficient in the Y area, pure biological fact and it makes them susceptible to sandmonkeys. BW48

I've been wondering for a while though, what is your estimate for the amount of support for your position in Egypt? As in, what is the theocrat/liberal ratio?

lol it's not just about arabs, in general women are more tolerant to differences and to excentric people. Notice the position towards transexuals, at least online, 99% of a transexuals friends are females if not 100%. And look at the anti feminism position of the church, shortly before his death Jean Paul II (who happens to be famous for his tolerance) attacked feminism, accusing it among others of encouraging homosexuals rights and homosexual marriage. I doubt that it'd be a smart v/s idiot thing. It's mainly social roles, men are competitors and women are moderators, men impose the laws and women are the mothers that hold the family together. But on the other hand women are still quitters and they dont shape the face of society as much as men do. I'd still be proud to be a "self-declared neo-feminist" :D or even a "self-declared archeofeminist" I dont care:P Women Rock. And answering the first "anonymous": XY is not a sign of resistance, it's a sign of weakness, the Y chromosome is far smaller then the X Chromosome and it has very secondary function genes such as hair growing out a man's ears. Women are genetically stronger than men→general truth that everyone knows ☺

At 3/10/2006 05:38:00 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

True, the Y chromosome is a drastically downsized X chromosome. It lacks most of the genes found on the X chromosome, and thus leaves men without a backup if their one X chromosome fails to code for some protein or other. This is why men are more susceptible to color-blindnes for instance.

mohamed,

Sorry if I don't know where you stand on these issues, but the search feature hasn't been working for me. Your username is so common that searching for it will yield the prophet, the hijacker atta, and several others.

Regardless, since I don't have a dog in this fight, I'll let you and your fellow Middle Easterners hash it out. I won't defend sam because he's more than capable of doing that himself. However, your criticisms raised my interest, so I wandered through your posts at Tomanbay's blog, and I found some illogical arguments that you presented. I will point out some here.

1) In this response, you said you despised Sam (such a strong word) because Sam criticized Raed Jarrar. You admitted you had never read anything written by this Raed Jarrar. How can you despise Sam for criticizing Raed when you know nothing about Raed's views? If you consider yourself to be an intellectually honest person, shouldnt you first investigate Raed's writings before you harbor such disdain for Sam? You then went on to ask a question and responded with your own answer: (and what's his motive for that? I have no idea). By your own admission, you don't even know why Sam criticized Raed, still you loathe him. You even incorrectly ascribed adjectives like Mccarthyism and tyranny. Do you even know what McCarthyism and tyranny mean?

From dictionary.com
McCarthyism:
1. The practice of publicizing accusations of political disloyalty or subversion with insufficient regard to evidence.

2. The use of unfair investigatory or accusatory methods in order to suppress opposition.

The key words here are with insufficient regard to evidence. When Sam criticized Raed, did he not linked to Raed's blog? What evidence is more valid than Raed's own words concerning his views? Raed and his wife are indeed hypocrites. They hate America so much, yet still live off the riches of us infidels. That's hypocrisy, plain and simple. That is not unfair at all, and it is not intended to suppress opposition since this is not the first time Raed has been criticized, yet he still uses his bull horn every chance he gets. This is Sam's criticisms of Raed and also an attempt to inform his readers, and it is not an attempt to suppress Raed. It is Raed who suppresses opposition to his views by turning off the comments section on his blog, lest some readers more logical than he would lay him out like a carpet.

And it is not even close to tyranny using any of the available definitions.

You went on to say...Isn't this hypocricy, to be for absolute freedom of speech only when you like it,...

I see no hypocrisy on Sam's part, because I know for a fact Sam is not for absolute freedom of speech. I have seen anonymous posters who come here to post racist remarks, only to have those posts deleted by Sam. I have also seen critics of the prophet had their posts removed if the views aren't expressed rationally. Thus, no, Sam is not for absolute freedom of speech. You are incorrect yet again.

I have read your other posts in that thread, but I'll just dissect this one post. Lurkers who are interested are welcomed to do their own interpretation of your arguements.

One more thing...you said in a successive post:

One thing I'm sure of though ( and I think that deep inside you know it too, but would never admit it :)), is that non of your Nazi cheerleaders who posted their comments encouraging you to keep up the "good" work did read it too, they're just blindly following you just as long as you completely adopt their nutty viewpoint.

You malign us as Nazi cheerleaders, and that none of us read that long rant Sam wrote. I read it, all of it, as did many others. I don't mind being called retarded as I have pretty thick skins, though. As a further point, I don't consider Sam to be any sort of genius. He is pretty intelligent given his education, his ability to articulate his views without mincing words, and his rational thought process; but he's no genius. You, dear mohamed, are several notches below Sam's level; so before you accuse us of being retards, ya might want to start presenting more articulate, rational arguments if you want to be taken seriously. Just a suggestion.

The monkey is a nice intelligent charming guy, the real ladies man..
BUT his cheering audience is mostly made up of europeans and americans with superficial knowledge of the mid east and what's actually going on down there, plus some mid easterns with uncompromising extreme ideas.
that's cool, but it sure doesn't mean that the ideas presented here are the most enlighted in the middle east.
the most uncompromising, may be. by the way i don't need any smart ass jumping on his/her keyboard writing that we should be uncompromising in the face of terror, backwardness, bla bla..

one can just say what one thinks the chearing (i won't say nazi chearleaders or nutjobs this time) ignorant crowd wants to hear or present thought through ideas/ solutions that are applicable in the mid east that one grew up in and knows quite well.
a lot has to be changed in the mid east, but i don't think this blog is contributing to change. on the contrary, it's leading readers (i don't mean the ecstatic crowd)to think that the secular alternative is really as extreme as the religious fanatics, just on the other side.

i personally (not that it counts in the greater context of things) think the monkey often doesn't know what he's talking about.
still there is enough room on the net for idiots of every kind and sort (me included here)
there's a lot of other bloggers like tomanbay, pharaoh and alb sayed and others that are balanced and give some hope without playing the role of the martyr or the prophet who's misunderstood amongst his retarded people.

cheers

GEEZ, atleast if you are going to call people ignorant perhaps you could spell cheering right? It's cheer/cheerleader/cheering.

I would also add that the "Nazi" label belongs more with the religious fanatics in the middle east than it does to anyone in the west. Afterall, Arafat's Grandfather was a Nazi. What exactly do you think this is really all about?

about the nazi thing, come on. i've seen nazis (in what u chose to call the west) and religious fanatics (who are by no means a mid eastern invention) and they're not that different.

arafat who? why? ...so?
do u actually think he's an arabic national hero or something?

How do you measure change, Hani? Did he effect change when he and a group of other young egyptians held a candlelight vigil after that bombing in (sharm el-sheiK?)? Is he for peace or for violence? Logic or stupidity? Did he effect change when, thanks to a tip fromFreedom for Egyptians, he published scanned images of the egyptian newspaper that had published the mohammad cartoons months earlier? Did his actions helped quell the senseless insanity coming from the muslim world or did it inflame it? Can you not think before you make such ridiculous statements?

we just disagree on how to fight the same retardednes and how we percieve basic essential rights.

"Guys are more balanced, having both an X & Y chromosone whereas women are deficient in the Y area, pure biological fact and it makes them susceptible to sandmonkeys. BW48"

English is my second language. I apologize for spelling errors and any grammatical mistakes.
And sorry to be off the original topic, but I need to answer.

XX combinations aren't deficient in the Y-area.
An Y is an X missing a leg.
The X chromosome is a little heavier than the Y, explaining the 50.1/49.9% newborn XY/XX or boys/girls ratio.
The XY is a more fragile combination, a little more susceptible to diseases, disorders and accidents, so when reaching the reproductive age, the XY equals the XX combination in ratio.

I can't tell whether the XX combination is more susceptible for sandmonkeys but in general the XX favours male partners.
You may be right since most heroes in love stories in the "west" are tall, dark, "macho" men - the popular generalisation of a "latin lover" or males with ME origin.

Calling the XY a more balanced combination must be your opinion, since the XY combination statistically seems to be overrepresented in prisons, violent crime, domestic violence, terror and disagreements leading to war.

The second part about the XX/XY, was incorrect but you called it pure biological fact.
What I reacted upon, was the "defiency in the Y area" part.

Defenceless young souls could think you were right and qoting you, they would utterly fail their biology exams.
So for the education of the youth, I took it upon me to correct you.
