Chavez: I am craaazzzzzzzzyyyyyyy!

This Chavez dude from Venezuela is really loopy. Must be what too much paranoia will do to you. Latest evidence: He is warning the US that it will be soundly defeated if they attempted to invade him, ehh, in a speech he gave in an international youth conference. And while some of you may be confused over the fact that the US never even hinted at even conducting a small military action, let alone invasion, against Chavez, you have to understand what type of international Youth conference this really was: A US-is-evil-socialism-yay Youth conference. So, you see, the allegations in that speech was just made out of form to accomodate the crazy young people at that conference. But some of you will say :"Sam, just because they are socialist, that doesn't make them crazy, does it?" Ehh.. in this specific case it does. Check it out: The Venezuelan leader said "socialism is the only path," and told the students the collective goal is to "save a world threatened by the voracity of US imperialism." Earlier, the students waved flags, danced in traditional dress, and held signs praising socialism, Cuban leader Fidel Castro and Ernesto "Che" Guevara. More than 300 students from the United States shouted out their disapproval of US President George W Bush, chanting "Get out Bush!" Other students chanted: "Bush, fascist - you're a terrorist!" [...] Chavez wore a red shirt like many of the students, and embraced delegation leaders as their groups marched past. The ceremony was held in Venezuela's military headquarters in Caracas. Troops looked on while students passed carrying coloured flags and shouting: "We will overcome!" We will overcome. LOL. What? No "swing low sweet chariot"? Kids these days! Notice where it was held and what kind of T-shirts they were wearing? Yeah.. So in case you are wondering when and how did this international youth conference start, and you haven't guessed it yet, well wonder no more my friend: This year's World Festival of Students and Youth is the 16th. The first, in 1947, was held in Czechoslovakia, and during the Cold War most host countries were aligned with the Soviet bloc. Ah-huh... Apart from the former Soviet Union, other host countries have included Romania, Poland, Finland, Cuba, the former East Germany and North Korea. All of them are great, fine, democratic, non-despotic at all "people's republics" as you can see. You know, all joking aside, Chavez reminds me of Egypt's Nasser, which means that unless the Venezuelan's get rid of his ass soon, they can kiss their future goodbye, the same way the "blessed" 1952 socialist reveloution is still ruining ours. Just saying...

Yah, we're such nasty American Imperialists.....If we were really imperialists, we'd have invaded those silly little corrupt dictatorships decades ago. But, we think people ought to govern themselves. American Imperialism is related to imperialism in the same way that American Torture is related to torture.

Thanks for the info, and the enjoyable article.

It does seem amazing that an old-fashioned Marxist like that can come to power, after all that has happened. I would guess that the government was previously not democratic but was in the hands of a few rich families. This will always breed resentment which can be exploited by extremists.
