Yet another I.E.D. blast in Sinai: 2 Egyptian Officers dead
Yes, Another Blast today. I HATE BEING RIGHT! Two Egyptian policemen have been killed and two others injured in two blasts in northern Sinai, officials said. The interior ministry said police were operating in Jabal Halal when the booby-trapped devices exploded. It was the second such incident in the area in two days, and came as security forces searched for militants suspected in several recent bomb attacks. It's getting worse, people. It's getting worse!

Take it from me the way we view it here in America: If you are angering the wifebeating religious nuts, you MUST be doing something right.
Secular democracy WORKS because in a secular democracy, everyone is allowed to do his or her OWN thing. So in America e.g. we have a range of people: strict Muslims, orthodox Jews, Christian fundamentalists, Hindus, Buddhists, humanists, B'Hais, Copts of several flavors (including my Veterinarian from Egypt), atheists; fence straddlers of all religions; every sexual orientation, everything.
What is so great or praiseworthy about being a devout religious person if the only alternative is that you'll be killed if you fail to tow the line? It's better to let everyone make their own path and let them willfully follow the beliefs that they CHOOSE.
Educated people all over the world admire Egypt, read about Egypt, and seek to vacation in Egypt. Egyptians in general and Arabs in particular are known the world over as being charitable, hard-working, studious, etc. Many come here to America with a keen eye toward entreprenuership, science, academia, medicine, and engineering.
But the Jew-hating, wife-beating, and homophobia's GOT to go. Islam is a relatively new devolopment in Egypt. Egypt has seen them come and seem them go from the Pharoahs to the Greeks, Romans, Christians, Napolean, Nazis, and Arabs. When Islam is long gone, Egypt will still be extant, Egypt will still be sought out for vacations and archeological study, and Egyptians will still be admired by good people everywhere.

I just heard that it was a Major General and a Colonel that were killed in this incident. Unless the EGyptian police force is full of very high ranking officers, I think that pretty much rules out a random land mine.
