Balalaland

Recent news has convinced me more and more that we really do live in Balalaland (which Barking boy has said it first), especially the news of the results of the first round of elections. Things are....weird. For example, it wasn't enough that Amal Othman just miracolously won after losing to her MB rival (the fact that they changed the head count- supervisor of the polling station had nothing to do with it), it seems that many others (who lost, mind you) are going to go into the "re-run" election tommorow. Sorayah Labna is one of them for example. But she lost you say? Ahh, doesn't matter. This is Balalaland, and anything goes. Another example of our Balalalandness is the fact that the NDP is running 4 independents in tommorow's re-run elections. Let me say that again: 4 indepdnent candidates, i.e. not affiliated with a party, will somehow be running on the NDP's ticket while still being called independent in tommorow's elections. How that works, I have no idea. But the NDP announced it anyway. You figure it out. Or don't. It doesn't matter, since we live in Balalaland. But all is not bad in Balalaland, for our Balalalness can sometimes be used to our advantage, the way Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, the Wafd christian candidate who lost, did. He also demanded a re-run election and will be having one tommorow, despite the fact that he already lost. How is that possible? Who know? Who cares? Balalaland. Balalaland. Balalaland. One person who will not be enjoying the balalaness of our country will be Ayman Nour, since his defeat was the result of the balala effect: The way the NDP cheated in his polling station wasn't with ballot stuffing or anything like that; they had the judge demand of all the voters to hand him the ballot before putting it in to ensure it's correct. If it was for Ayman Nour, he checked another box, making the ballot invalid, thus can not be counted. Is this a violation? Yes! But who can you go to in order to get Justice? It's the residing Judge doing it after all. And of course Nour will not get a re-run election, because the forces ruling Balalaland saw nothing wrong in the balalaness that happend in his polling station. And it doesn't matter anyway, since the lawsuit he filed just got postponed until november 22 , which is 7 good days after the re-run elections tommorow, so even if it's proven that there were violations, the seat will continue to belong to the other dude and no other election will be taking place, because that's what the re-run election day is for. Doesn't make sense? Doesn't matter. It's the way we do things here, so eat shit and die mr. Nour. This is Balalaland, and whatever we say goes. God Bless Balalaland.

Sandmonkey,
I'm completely lost. What is this re-run elections, on what grounds, and who qualifies?

Anat,

the re-run election is an event that happens when people contest the results of an election in court, and it's usually granted when the difference is small enough to justify a re-run or if events that happend that could've compromised the vote. All re-run elections for stage 1 of the elections are on one day, and that's tuesday the 15th. As to your on what grounds and who qualifies question, my guess is as good as yours. In Balalaland, it all depends on the powers that be and if they are willing to allow such an event to take place. They allowed it in all the otehr cases, except in 2: the MB guy against Amal Osman because she is an NDP symbol, and the Ayman Nour one for obvious reasons. Altough, to be fair, they didn;t deny them a re--run election, they just postponed the hearing until afetr the re-run election date, thus making a re-run election on the seat impossible.

Shamoussa, I wouldn't mind an updated ID at all. I bet the Balalland ID's would be much cooler then the ones we already have. Nothing in it would be definite, u know?
