Taliban at Yale

So, wait, John Walker Lindh gets the pokie for 20 years, and this guy gets to stay at Yale (Thanks Candace)? How does this work again?

The American university system heard "you are with us, or you are with the terrorists" (GWB) and chose the latter within about a minute. I don't believe Bush saw that coming.

Don't bother trying to explain to the academic 'Left'* how intellectual curiosity - among so many other things - is destroyed by the bearded cavemen. Supporting the Taliban and Saddam, or any anti-American dictator, is part of 'progressive' thought these days.

*Fascists basically, and I try to avoid hyperbole.

The Left sees David Horowitz' new book as a bigger threat to the West. This guy is just their newest Icon of 'Freedom.'

RTFA commenters. This guy became a Taliban not because he's an Islamist but because it was a job he could do. From what I learned about the guy from that article, I seriously doubt he'll go back to Afghanistan with his new education to rejoin the Taliban.

chip: Bush used a false choice, quit repeating it.
