May the shmoozing begin

The 2008 GOP presidential hopefuls are starting their campaigns it seems. Not wasting time are we? The Sandmonkey endorses Condi for President. Go Condi!

I'm glad you endorse Condi, just makes my decision easier. She's such a brilliant woman.
Off topic, if there are any folks in Dubai reading this, we're sorry. This whole situation is nothing but filthy politics.
I'm interested in hearing your comments.

Condi is neither brilliant, nor an experienced, informed, or prudent politician.

Now, given the current climate, this should make her a shoo-in candidate.

Please God!! I will drop to my knees and start praying again if you'll only let her achieve her dream of becoming commissioner of the national football league and give us at least a four year respite from "charming" incompetence.

Hey SM...I am a BIG Condi supporter. I think she's awesome and I would love for her to get the Republican nod.

I don't care one way or the other, it just seems strange that someone would want to elect an oil tanker to the White House or is it an analogy ?

No, it won't be Condi, and it shouldn't be.

It shouldn't be, because she has absolutely no experience in domestic matters, or do i know of any ideas she has about any matters outside her specialty. Also she has no experience in electoral politics, or as a legislator or Governor -- the last Presidential Candidate that was true about was Eisenhower, and he'd been a general. Before him, you have to go back to Willkie. The last successful Presidential Candidate who had those disadvantages and WASN'T a general was Hoover.

But the reasons it WON'T be Condi are that she has to run in the Republican party Primary. She has three strikes against her there. Sam, the Republican party still retains a reservoir of racism from the Old South and the Bible Belt. The Christian Conservatives have considerable influence, and they are NOT pro-woman. And finally, she is to closely identified with Bush, and the party is already doing its best to run against the most unpopular president since Nixon at the same time in his term. If, as I expect, the Democrats take both houses in this election, the Republicans will be doing their best to get people to forget that Bush is one of them. They certainly won't nominate a Cabinet member. (Of course, things could change considerably, but i don't see it happening.)
